I would have to say that over the years of research, that the children's regular multivitamin made by the synthetic stuff is more harmful than helpful to children.
I highly recommend Cod Liver Oil for children to get Vitamin A,D,E and Omega 3's (DHA,EPA,ALA)
There are several brands out there.
I give my kids 2 tablespoons per day of this stuff.
